Bengal Den (Advisory/Intervention)
Course Description:
Greendale Middle School students will participate in Bengal Den. Bengal Den is Monday through Friday for 1 hour. Students will be assigned to a ‘Den’ teacher, but may be rotated throughout the year. The teachers will work with students to set goals and improve areas of weakness. Bengal Den is NOT a ‘study hall’. Students participate in Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) time, reflect on current events (CNN news), set and complete IXL math goals, work in small groups for remediation/enrichment, practice On Demand Writing, improve college and career readiness skills and so forth.
Students are expected to:
1. Have a positive attitude.
2. Bring materials to class everyday (book, pencil, student device, remediation work, class folder, paper etc.)
3. Set goals, monitor goals and celebrate successes!
Students will work on IXL math throughout the year. They will be given a password and will be responsible for monitoring their goals. Students who master their goals may be eligible for an administrator/teacher monitored reward time periodically over the course of the year (for example: gym time). Students who are not mastering skills and/or following class expectations; will not be eligible to participate in reward time. Students will be provided time to work 1-1 with teachers, peers etc. Failure is not an option, it’s only the opportunity to begin again more successfully. The seventh grade teachers are here to support you and help you grow academically and socially.

PLEASE SIGN AND RETURN NO LATER THAN FRIDAY AUGUST 14. 2015
