Class Description:
The 8th Grade Math Core Class is a standards-focused,
student-centered program in which students will approach mathematical concepts
in the following ways: directed for basic mathematics principle including
examples and practice, guided through a combination of direct instruction and
investigatory learning, investigative activities that allow students to explore
and discover mathematics concepts through a contextual setting. This course is
designed to meet mastery level of Kentucky’s Common Core Standards in the
following general categories: using linear equations and systems of linear
equations to solve a variety of problems, show a complete understanding of a
function, and apply their knowledge of distance and angles to perform
transformations to describe congruence and similarity.
